Day 10 Butler Lake

Day 10 in the 30 in 30 challenge.

This fall I spent a week in General Butler State Park painting plein air and today I took my 10" x 8" and turned it into this 20" x 16" acrylic on a canvas panel.

It's a beautiful lake and I've gotten some great photos of it, but this is painted from what I think is my favorite painting from that week.

I haven't painted big in a while and this was fun, though daunting.

Enjoy and thanks for checking it out.

This 20" x 16" canvas panel is unframed.

  1. You must be a very fast painter. You completed a 20 x 16 painting in one day? Wow! How did it go for you, enlarging a smaller one? I've enlarged smaller plein air paintings (or tried them at home in a different medium), but never THAT much larger! I clicked on the painting to make it larger so I could see all the trees better. Nice work! Lots of colors I couldn't see in the smaller picture.

  2. I am a fast painter. I have the attention span of a gnat, so I can't work on something for a long period of time. This one was really fun and since a 20 x 16 is exactly the same proportions as a 10 x 8 it wasn't really hard to enlarge. It was lots of fun to have the small painting on my table top easel and the big one on my standing easel. When I get in the zone, I can knock em out. That's kinda crazy I know.
