Day 21 Washed Up

Washed Up
On a walk down the beach in Myrtle Beach several years ago,
I saw this part of a boat that had washed up on the beach.

I'd never seen anything this large wash up before, so of course I had to photograph it.

Now that I have it in my reference arsenal,
Naturally I had to paint it.
I'm so ready for a trip to the beach, can you tell.

  1. Yes, you MUST go to the beach so you can collect more reference photos! Sharon, you are really good at painting waves. I really like how you did the foamy part. Is the paint thick there? Unique composition.

  2. I build it up with at least three to five passes over it but the most important thing is a thin dark shadow where the foam meets the sand. Doesn't work without it.

  3. Yes, you did that shadow really well, too.
