A Gray and Rainy Day

Foggy Morn

This morning was so foggy and rainy and just downright ugly, so I tried to turn it into an opportunity.
I've wanted to paint a scene like this for a while and today was the day.

I don't think the atmospherics show up as well in the photo as it looks in person, but I did my best on that.

This is an 8 x 10 acrylic on masonite.  It is unframed and is currently in my rack at Gallery 104,
LaGrange, KY.

Please contact me if you;re interested.

$45 w/free shipping.

Sailor's Delight

I know there's no sign of an ocean, a lake, or even a puddle, but when I see sunsets like this I can't help but think of
Red sky at night
Sailor's Delight.

I love skies and the beauty that can be seen there,
and we had several nights of gorgeous sunsets,
so out this popped.

It is framed in a solid wood brown frame and is ready to grace someone's home, office or room.

It's an 8 x 10 acrylic on masonite panel.

$150 includes shipping

Here's a link for The Artful Parent.  It's a neat blog about art and art books for children.  She's having a blogiversary, (I love that) and is giving away children's art books for those who sign up.  Give her a look.

Hope you had a great day and happy creating.

BREAK THROUGH!

Today painting a handful of lilacs for practice,
I had what I consider a breakthrough in my learning curve.
I wasn't happy with the overall finished painting compositionally,
but
I learned so much on how to paint beautiful lilacs in a very loose impressionistic way.
I'll work on it again Monday and when I get something I'm happy with you'll be the first to see.

It is so wonderful to all of a sudden figure something out and it works!
I think the take away is, like Dori in Finding Nemo:
Just keep swimming, just keep swimming, just keep swimming swimming swimming.

Came across this Spanish tutorial on how to preserve your children's art projects.  The tutorial makes the fact the text is in Spanish no problem.  After thinking about it, I believe that is one of the great things about art.  We don't have to speak the same language to appreciate or understand art.  Fill up your home with your children and their creations.

Breaking Dawn

Breaking Dawn
is another painting I finished but have never published or displayed anywhere.

This reminds me of scenes out west.
The water looks cold doesn't it?
It is a signed and framed 18 x 24 acrylic on stretched canvas.
It would normally be priced at $250, but through February 10
you can purchase it for $200.

Please contact me to assure availability.

Thanks for checking these out.

January Art Show and Sale

These are some of the paintings I am offering at Gallery 104 in LaGrange, KY.
Some of these have never been published before.
They are in a special Show and Sale where artists are offering original paintings at reduced prices for one month.

In a Cabin in a Woods

reminds me of the camp song we used to sing of a little old man at the window.
There is no man visible in this cabin, but he could be there.
Someone is definitely in there with the smoke coming out the chimney.

This is one of several paintings I will be showing at Gallery 104
during the January Show and Sale.
Gallery artists are presenting many more paintings, many at reduced prices.
This is a 16 x 20 acrylic on a stretched canvas in a wood frame
It is normally $175 but can be purchased through February 10 for $150.

Hidden Shed
is another painting I am offering at Gallery 104 with a discount.
It is an 8 x 10 acrylic on masonite and is in a deluxe crackle finish wood frame.
It normally lists for $75 and can be purchased for $65 during the month of January.

This interesting shed is actually in Carroll County, KY and I took a photo of this several years ago.
I love it because at one time you could actually drive under it.
It is pretty covered over in vines and brush, but it is a really neat building.

Splash
is an unframed 16 x 20 acrylic on canvas board
It is listed for $100

I can almost tast the salt in the air.

Farm Tracks
is actually my own barn with our sheep in the background.
This is an unframed 16 x 20 acrylic on canvas board
and lists for $100.
