Iris Class

Let's Paint Iris

I've been working for a while on a single subject class,
painting irises.

This is a short class that will teach you how to paint these fun blue and purple irises.
This class will teach you a method for painting these irises
that you can use in many other similar flowers or subjects.

You will learn:
  1. The brushes I use.
  2. The paints I use.
  3. How to put in a background with some depth.
  4. How to paint the irises and buds.
  5. How to highlight and make the iris petals curve and turn.

This is the painting we'll be working on,
and you can see a different one in the background.
You can use what you learn here in many different paintings.

This is my set up as I filmed me painting this painting
from beginning to end.
You will be able to follow along as I show you how to paint these lovely flowers, step by step.
You will be able to watch it as many times as you want.
My goal is for you to get it and be able to do it.
Please don't be discouraged if you don't get it on the first try.
It has taken me a while to figure it out.
You won't have to figure it out,
because I'm going to show you every single step.

This class is the first of what I hope to be many
single subject classes.
