Day 7 Beach Protector

Beach Protector

On a visit to Naples, Florida we saw this fire lookout.
I don't know if it was still being used because it was a little rough looking,
but it was a fun site and I knew I'd be painting it sometime.

The 30 in 30 challenge is the perfect time.

This has been a fun painting and it's sort of getting me in the mood
for beach week I'll do during the challenge in the coming weeks.

Beach Protector
8" x 10" unframed acrylic on a panel

  1. Sharon, this is really nice! The warm tones of the wood contrast nicely against the blue sky. I don't think I've ever seen a "fire lookout". Now I know!

  2. Thanks Linda. Appreciate your comment. I've seen them in the smokies and they are much taller than this one, but I don't know what else it could have been. It's not a life guard shack. Anyway, it was cool.

  3. Lovely warmth in this painting, Sharon. Those grasses in the front are awesome...

  4. Thank you so much Meredith. I've been working on those grasses almost since my very first painting. Finally I'm beginning to get something I'm happy with.
