Get 'Em While They're Hot!

I'll be painting in the online challenge hosted by
 Leslie Saeta,
an artist/teacher in California.
She invites artists from around the world to join in this challenge and to paint as much as possible for the month.
Not everyone will complete the 30 paintings, but the goal is to paint more than we normally do, learn something
and have fun.
There are over 1000 artists participating worldwide.
We'll all be connected through Leslie's blog and our art.

Today is Day 1 and this is my first painting.

I tried to take a video as I worked,
but my storage was having an issue.

But I made this to show you the progress.

If you start at the top right and go down
and to the left,
you'll see the progression.
The finished painting is the big one.

But, do you see a problem?

This is "ONE" of the things that drive artists crazy!

These two pictures were taken minutes apart
about 15 feet apart.
The one on the left was taken in natural light
and the one on the right was taken in the studio.
The one on the right is closer to the actual finished painting.
How weird is that.

September is also my blogaversary,
and I'll be giving away over $800 worth of goodies:
including:
Notecards
4 Iris Single Subject Online Classes
4 Small Paintings
2 Medium Sized Paintings
1 Framed 8" x 10" Painting
and
"drum roll please"
1 Full Online Art Course

That's a lot of stuff.

  1. Wow, 10x10? That's very ambitious of you! Lovely piece, and really fun to see the progression, how you brought your light into the piece. And Yes, as you know, getting the image is a real bugaboo! One down...

    1. Thanks Meredith. I know the 10" x 10" is bigger than I've painted in the challenge before, but I've been painting larger lately and I didn't think I could go down to a 6" x6" right away. I did 8" x 8" last time, so I thought I'd do this size. Gotta love the photography end of our job. NOT!

    1. Thanks so much for commenting today Jacklyn. I totally get it. It's a struggle to not only do the art but also the blogging. But it is so much fun and so good for us as artists.
