Day 7 I'm a Chicken Painter

Day 7 and I painted a chicken.

I took the photo for this reference years ago at Stream Cliff Herb Farm
in Commiskey, IN.
It is a really fun place to go, they have beautiful gardens, a wonderful tea room,
tons of plants to buy and all sorts of goodies tucked in all around the farm.
They also have the farm animals.

It's in the middle of no where, but people, (like me) drive for miles to go and take in the beauty.

This chicken was sort of posing for me that day and I've been waiting to paint it and I decided it would be part of the 30 day challenge.

This is a 12" x 12" acrylic on a panel.

  1. I see you painted another winner! The way you handled the texture on the ground, I think is incredible. I, on the other hand, fell asleep on the couch last night, so I didn't even get to look at blogs last night, let alone paint. Luckily, I painted for awhile BEFORE work yesterday, so I'm still daily! Thanks for adding the dimensions of the paintings to your posts, that helps me get perspective on them.

  2. I understand about the falling asleep on the couch. It can be exhausting. The ground on the chicken painting was the hardest part of the painting. It took longer than the rest of the painting. The whole painting was a lot of fun. I've never painted a chicken before, but I will be again.
